Evening Programme

Our AMPED worship service is at 6 p.m. on Sunday evenings.

LifeSwitch is a place where people find reality in community. At the heart of that experience are people worshipping God together. That’s what the evening service is all about: a time set aside, marked out and dedicated to the worship of God. A time when we encounter His reality together. A time when we respond to Him from the deepest reaches of our soul.

We value creativity and flexibility, and there’s plenty of variety, so it’s not the same every week. This is not to entertain us, but to keep our worship fresh and vibrant. We want to give God our very best.

Contemporary Music:

Worship isn’t entirely about music, but it plays a big part (see Psalm 47:6, 150:3-5; Colossians 3:16).

You’ll have the chance to join with others in singing songs that are modern in style and worshipful in focus.

A Teaching Time

We usually have a short teaching or devotional time during our evening worship service. We enjoy biblical teaching and life application aimed at the believer.

You can listen to or download and audio recording of the teaching time for free from our archives page.

Communion:

Here at LifeSwitch, we believe the bread and grape juice are emblems that remind us of the death and resurrection of Christ. We take them regularly to remember what He has done for us, just as He commanded (Luke 22:19-20; Acts 2:42; 1 Corinthians 11:23-26). So while they are only symbols in themselves, they are not to be taken lightly (1 Corinthians 11:27).

If you have not taken the emblems before please talk to one of the Leadership Team or someone you trust. If you do not yet have a relationship with God we caution you against taking them. Feel free to pass them on. It is the responsibility of parents to decide if their children should take the emblems. In making that decision, we suggest you weigh up whether they have a personal relationship with God themselves, and whether they adequately appreciate the significance of the emblems. Generally, we would prefer that people were baptised before they took the emblems, but this is a decision that people (and parents) must make for themselves.

Personal Response Time:

We want the worship at LifeSwitch to be real, and to flow out of the fullness of people’s experience of God during the week. We also believe it’s important for people to have the opportunity to offer their own contribution to our worship, from the heart (Psalm 145:21; 1 Corinthians 14:26). For this reason we often have a Personal Response Time or public prayer time in evening services. This is an opportunity for people to inspire our worship by briefly sharing a thought, a verse or a prayer that is focused on God and shaped by worship.

If you’re new to the church, we suggest you take a few weeks to observe this in action before making your own contribution. But we’d love to hear your voice in time - it’s not just for the eloquent and well-practiced.
