Giving to God through LifeSwitch
One of our values is ‘Investing in his kingdom’. We believe that giving to the work of God is an important part of our discipleship journey and a sign of our trust in God. Because we have tried to remove ‘obstacles’ for non-believers we do not pass a plate or ask non-believers to contribute in any way. However, that does not reduce our responsibility as attendees and members of LifeSwitch.
Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. (2 Cor. 9:6-7)
The Bible teaches that we should plan our giving, setting aside the amount we have determined to give, rather than waiting until the end of the week to see how much is left in our wallet. The Bible also says that we should give joyfully, not out of compulsion or reluctance. It is a joy to partner with what God is doing and to know that we have made possible what we see happening around us. It is by our own measure that we will be rewarded - if we are stingy how can we expect abundant blessing from God? But if we are generous, God will be generous with us. If you would like copies of recent teaching on giving please contact the Church Director.
Most people take advantage of the banking system to make their contributions to LifeSwitch. Whether it is by setting up an automatic payment for regular payments or using internet/telephone banking to make your contributions, giving using modern technology can be easy and painless. You may complete the Automatic Payment form (66kb PDF), or use the Bank Account number provided and set us up as a bill payment through your bank’s internet or telephone banking system. If you prefer the good old-fashioned method of cash or cheque (still perfectly acceptable) you may deposit these in the mailbox in the foyer on Sundays (if depositing cash, please ensure that your contribution is sealed in an envelope and labeled with your name so that we can appropriately record it).
Receipts and Statements
Your contribution may also be eligible for a tax rebate. Tax receipts are issued in May each year for all identifiable contributions. You will also receive a statement part-way through the year listing your contributions to date.
Privacy
The details of individual giving are private and are never made public. We take every effort to keep giving records private. We do not use giving records for any purpose other than managing our financial records and communicating with you.
Targeted Contributions
The Trustees and Elders of LifeSwitch encourage all donors to make their contributions to the general fund rather than to specific ministries within the church. Acceptance of any contribution with specific conditions or directions attached is subject to Trustees approval. From time to time we accept donations which are directed for a purpose outside of LifeSwitch (such as Missionary Support or care of an individual). Sometimes we will raise funds for a special project outside our normal budget (such as a missions trip or special equipment need). Please contact the Church Director to see if any such directed contributions are permitted. If you are making a contribution toward a directed cause or LifeSwitch project it must be clearly noted on the cheque, envelope or bank statement in order to be properly credited.
Thank you for your prayerful and sacrificial support of our growing community. May God bless you as you honour Him with your finances.
